Operation Black Magic by Muppetz540 Operation Black Magic by Muppetz540
My TDG of an U.S. Allied invasion of Equestria.
This was just for fun people.

EDIT- Some of the issues I see in comments.

I dont care if you think that Celestia could swat planes from the sky.
No way magic could counter bullets. A bullet travels at supersonic speeds. Your brains will be on the ground before you ever hear the shot.
The canon theory behind magic is that most unicorns only have "A little" magic based on their special talent. Sketchy local telekinesis. I highly doubt many ponies specialize in countering modern war machines. So far the only pony who can create any substantial shield is Shining Armor, and his shield cracked when some changelings smashed their faces against it. I doubt it would withstand a salvo of Naval or artillery shellings. Or god forbid a bunker buster or JDAM.

Pegasi - bird-shot, miniguns, airbust flak, AA guns, Phalanx turrets, Canister Rounds... Im not worried about pegasi.

A tank weighs almost 70 tons. Nopony short of maybe Twilight/Cele/Luna is going to be tossing one into the air anytime soon. Even if they could, while a pony is busy painstakingly levitating things up to lethal heights, I am confident 30 others will light it up with machine gun fire.

I personally believe the fandom headcanon for the Alicorns is waaay overpowered.
Celestia got her ass kicked in less than a minute by a love bug. Twilight ran screaming for her life from a Timberwolf, Crystal Empire proved that Cadence can't hold up spells forever.
Alicorns are not infallible.

I did ignore Discord. He just comes with too many variables. So I'm just pretending he is away on vacation or something.

I have just one question. Wouldn't this be more of a strategic plan rather then a tactical plan because your taking over an entire country, not just winning a battlefield? This seems very interesting on a plan to invade and than conquer Equestria.

A bit too idilic, though.
Maybe humans have technology, but they literally rule the world.

It would be way easier to just carpet bomb from the stratosphere the main resistance pockets like the mayor pony cities (killing most of the military/ potential recruits, and halting the economy, plus a demoralizing factor) and then start the air/land invasion using blitzkerig tactics.
Outside the nice and friendly cities, the flora and fauna pretty much want to kill the ponies, so no place to hide for them once the stablished locations are taken.

Alternatively, you can consider it an alien planet and invade it like an alien would do. Maybe you can create a giant, three-legged robot to conquer them. Just remember vaccines.

This is a nice thought out plan.
I like it when people construct hypotheticals, and you seem to have done a good job.

(no idea if the strategy is any good, im no strategist, but it sounds fantastic)

Would you consider an alternative plan for invading from another direction?

Or possibilities for overcoming any resistance you might face from, for example gryphons or dragons aiding the enemy?

Or other things that happen in real-world warfare which i simply cannot think of right now which might be hindrances?

Im sorry but If my nation tried to invade this peaceful kingdom... I would renounce my being a soldier.... thats just tyranny...

I will never turn my gun on innocent civilians, human or pony... I'd end up fighting for Equestria

Its a joke, hoss. No one is challenging your code of ethics.
But just for the sake of argument...

Implying a hypothetical invasion would be unwarranted.
Implying someone gave the order to shoot civilians.
Implying ponies are innocent.
Implying ponies are peaceful.
Has nothing to do with tyranny.
Something tells me you've never been deployed.

Hehe yeah I knew that :3

I guess my statement came across a little overbearing I apologize ^^'

And as for deployment you might as well say that... I mean I'm in Bahraini not exactly a hotspot for combat. So yeah fair to say I no little of actual engagement as of now until I get out of ADA.

Again I'm sorry I'd I sounded pompous during the last statement... Sometimes I let personal convictions get in the way of humor... It's something even my warrant says I need to work on... I need thicker ski. So to speak

Easy move clouds dale over the ocean outside of Baltimare and use the heavy guns and legions of Pegasus to cut off any resupply

Try that shit on a U.S. Destroyer, sentry guns with auto-locking capabilities and 2500 rounds a minute. Daisy cutters, well, daisy cutters would clear cloudsdale easily.

Destroyers auto targeting is made to lock into machinery, if there was massive cloud cover or even if they start a hurricane the US navy still can't fight the weather.

Or for that matter sea ponies attaching charges to the bottoms of ships.

It's too bad the Iowa-class ships were retired and now serve as floating museums, the image of them shelling the ponies back into the Stone Age is an amusing one.

USMC must have very different emblems then the Army does. Your '120mm Mortar team' is the same as our AP Mine, and your machine gun is our M203. Also, everything there is red, for us everything red is the enemy. Also, I'm pretty sure 'shitty MS Paint fire' is not an approved emblem, and is not associated with a tactical task. I am very confused why you have three OPs assaulting Canterlot in your final phase.

I'm surprised you didn't assign any units to Manehatten, as that seems like it should be a hub of trade as well as any sort of naval power.

Our AP mines are a rectangle with hollow circles. And you have a symbol for an m203? Do you mean mark19?
Also blue didn't show up on this map very well.
I had a stage for the destruction of Manehatten but i cut it to save space. I also had a more in depth invasion of Canterlot but i cut that as well.
And glorious MS paint fire is frequently used in our Powerpoints. We don't have an overly bloated budget to play with like you guys. We make do.

For us an Anti Tank mine is a solid circle, an AP mine is a circle with those two lines coming from it. Actually now that I think about it, the arrow with a line (M4) with the circle on the bottom is a light mortar. Pretty sure. An arrow, line, and circle in the middle of the line is a 203. I'm going to have to pull out the FMs, again. Damn.

I would have started with a surgical airstrike on Cloudsdale to minimize the winged pony threat thereby creating air dominance in the all important first hours. Also use key surgical strikes using laser guided bombs to disable and hinder command and control facilities in Canterlot and other key locations, decapitating the leadership. Then I would go ahead with the amphibious landing. Again, I think a key to the success here is a decimation of the Pegasus population.

On a related note, I wonder if I have a soul anymore.

I would've invaded from los pegasus, large settlement with heavy trainrail transport over, use it to immediatly move to canterlot, slay the leaders, then slowly spread outward from there.

Hmm if it where just for earth ponies this might would work but the pegasi and unicorns with their way to control weather and create shields could quickly remove air superiority, and protect target areas to actually make it rather difficult to continue a ground offense due bad weather and the lack of reinforcements due to bad naval conditions Shoop-bee-doo-shoop-shoop-bee-doo. Also think about somepony doping a want it need it enchanted item into an armed platoon, that would quickly initiate a deathmatch. :D

What if your ass was really high, and if it ain't weed or alcohol, i don't need it, also i think Celestia would probably use a want it need it as a last resort and one use would be all they get out of us, military wouldn't let our troops fight over some dumb doll. In fact, if they did, we probably use it against them too, drop it out of a plane on the enemy's side and watch our troops go pure bloodlust.

I think you have made a major tactical error in not taking out Cloudsdale first. As a large cloud, it can operate as a massive mobile air base, enabling pony air supremacy. Only when Cloudsdale is taken out can it be safe to land ground troops.

From what I can tell.
Griffons and dragons are not Equestrian.
I have no evidence to indicate that either the Griffons or Dragons would have any desire to come to Equestria's aid.
The ponies seem very confused and alarmed at the presence of a dragon in DragonShy
Leading me to believe that dragons are not common in Equestria. So I feel confident if a dressmakers pushpin can penetrate a dragon's scales. So can a sidewinder missile, or .50 caliber tungsten carbide armor piercing round.
Griffons are easy. Shoot them down. Shotguns are great for winged prey. Artillery units are usually well defended. Phalanx turrets would kill anything in the sky.
They call them "Anti-Everything Guns" with good cause.

Alright, but what of the unicorns' ability to basically hover you up in the air, and drop you from lethal heights, or the pegasi's maneuverability in the sky?
Reply
:iconmuppetz540:
Muppetz540 Featured By Owner Mar 3, 2013
Canon magic looks like few (if any) unicorns are able to lift anything larger than a teacup. Even then the levitation seems limited to their immediate vicinity. Modern assault rifles are effective out to 800 yards. And bullets travel at supersonic speeds, faster than a pony could react.
Even if a pony could levitate a fully grown human male with full combat load up to a lethal height. Ten other humans would blow the thing to shit the second its horn lit up.

And Pegasi can be as maneuverable as they want. Phalanx turrets shoot incoming mortars from the sky (that's a target about the size of a baseball)
Pegasus V.S. Miniguns = Pink mist where pegasus used to be.
[link]
Even without that. One man with a shotgun full of bird shot, could easy wipe out a squad of attacking Pegasi.

But what of the threat of reinforcements from the crystal empire? That would be something to consider.

As Crystal Empire affiliations with Equestria are not clearly defined. I can not justify any offensive strike against a potentially neutral country.
However defensive security measures would be established as contingency plans for the possibilities of a Crystal Pony threat.
However the Crystal Empire is noted as being highly isolated in the tundra of the frozen north.Making the seizure of Crystal territory a near impossibility.
However any attempts by the Crystal ponies to reinforce Equestrian lines could be easily routed by coalition forces.
